Using the tactics, skills and tricks of the trade taught in this professional survivors' manual will save your life when danger or terror suddenly strikes - at home; in the office; in the street; when travelling in unknown and inhospitable situations; when exposed to the wilderness.
Written by accomplished experts in the field, this book reveals the secrets of bushcraft, tradecraft and streetcraft, and teaches the essential skills needed to survive in any jeopardy. With its emphasis on teaching practical skills, the manual deals with identifying and anticipating hazard early enough to develop and implement response strategies and mechanisms giving you the edge on adversity - so when chance hits out at you, this book immediately gets the odds back on your side.

The second section focuses on how to ensure personal safety when everyday situations become life-threatening, including hostage situations, counter-terrorism techniques, self-defence against personal attacks, how to act when a tourist, how to deal with car hijacking and road rage, house fires, transport accidents and medical emergencies.

About the Authors
Anthonio Akkermans - Author
Anthonio Akkermans first started learning these skills when he met the man who was to become his mentor, Ofer Israeli. Ofer guided Anthonio from being interested in Native American culture and skills to truly caring for nature and all its resources. He taught Anthonio to live on the earth as well as how to teach these valuable skills to others. Under tutelage of Ofer, Anthonio first started passing on these skills in the form of a youth group aimed at children attending the Waldorf Steiner school in Maastricht, Netherlands, that met once every two weeks. When Anthonio moved away to London, he continued practising learned skills while taking many courses with the Tracker school in New Jersey led by Tom Brown. During his time in London, Anthonio also specialized in flint knapping and bow-making. In 2001, he moved to Northern Ireland, where he started a school called Wild-Live. Through Wild-Live, he now teaches hundreds of people a year how to live naturally and in harmony with nature and how to connect on a very basic level to the wilderness surrounding them. He also works for Queens University and various museums on a regular basis, instructing in experimental archaeology and replicating existing artifacts.

Bob Morrison - Author
Bob Morrison is a military photojournalist who has contributed to the British newsstand magazine COMBAT & SURVIVAL since the early 1990s, and edited it since 1997. In addition to its primarily military content, this magazine is the only non-American English language magazine to cover survival topics on a regular monthly basis.
Author of nine books covering subjects ranging from the 1991 Gulf War to military vehicles to NATO’s Cold War multinational deterrent force, he is also Military Editor of Land Rover Monthly and runs the specialist Military Scene defence images library. His assignments for both magazines have allow him to travel extensively, from snows of the Arctic to the High Veldt of South Africa, via the Sahara and Arabian deserts.
Through covering the conflicts in the Former Yugoslavia, he has witnessed how the civilian population adapts to and exists in combat zones. His travels to some of the more remote places have also given brief insights to how man adapts to cope with extremes of climate and the deprivations of living beneath the poverty level, in conditions that most Europeans and North Americans could never contemplate.
